If your DSL light goes off your internet light will always go off. If the DSL light goes off there is something wrong with the phone line connections. Either you have the filters installed incorrectly or there is something wrong with the phone line outside. Bottom line, the DSL=phone cord connection. The best thing to do in your situation is call into the Embarq internet support line.

Happen every day or two?

DHCP addresses expire. The no-configuration solution is the "fire drill":

1) Power down Cable/DSL modem and power back up. Wait for the lights to settle.

2) Power down the router and power back up.

3) Reboot your PC (if necessary)

This flushes out all the stale DCHP addresses.
