I have two computers hook up to a linksys wireless router. My girlfriend accesses wireless using her macbook.
Ever since college started, I've been getting the above message and have occasionally had difficulty accessing the internet. I've reset my router and modem. What could be causing this?

Yah, it's Vista Home Basic yah, and Cisco VPN 5.0.00.0340 It installs and opens up fine, but just won't connect, giving me an error:

Reason 412: The remote peer is no longer responding.

But it is, and works fine with a different laptop.

Any help greatly appreciated

I have a wireless router at home and it works fine ( I have a laptop and I can connect to the internet right next to my desktop with my laptop. We were going to sign up for DSL access and were going to get a DSL modem. Somebody told us that a modem is no longer necessary and all you need is some kind of external box that's much cheaper. I've never heard anything about this and thought a modem was necessary. Do you or do you not need a modem for DSL access? Thanks.

Windows XP. Linksys WRT54G.

When my internet cable is plugged directly into my computer from the wall, my computer obtains an IP address and connects to my browser no problem.

When I plug the cable from the wall into my router and then from the router into the computer, it also obtains a IP address, says I'm connected but my browser will not work. This also happens when I connect to it wirelessly.

So basically, when I go directly from the modem to my computer my internet works fine, but when I go through to router, it says it's connected (Internet and WLAN light are both on as well on the router) and has IP address but the browser will not work.

I've tried so many things, PLEASE HELP!!!

Ok. i moved into an apartment that offers free internet. there is no modem just a wall socket to connect an ethernet cable, thats what i'm on now. but i want to connect a wireless linksys router to it so i can go wireless on my laptop. i assume this connection is coming from a network as it is, so one concern that i have is, will my ip address change all the time and will it affect my wireless conection? and also how do i go about setting up my router?
