Okay, I bought a brand new acer desktop, preloaded with vista home premium. I got it up and running went throuh all the stuff, and tried to connect to the internet. I have a wireless router at home and it works fine ( I have a laptop and I can connect to the internet right next to my desktop with my laptop. When I try to diagnose the problem, it gives me a message saying I don't have a wireless network adapter installed and configured. Please help, without the internet that desktop is almost worthlesss.

If your desktop is right next to the router why not use ethernet to connect? Wired always will be better than wireless so if you just run an ethernet cable from the computer to the router you will be connected.

If you want wireless in your desktop (and generally the only reason you would do this is because you can't run a cable) then you need a wireless adapter for your desktop. You can get a PCI Wireless adapter, or a USB adapter, either will work just fine. Plug them in, install the drivers and connect up.
The PCI will go inside the machine the USB will just connect to a USB port.

You dont have to use Linksys, I just happen to like them for adapters.
