Can I remove my hard disk drive or mother board and place it into another working computer to reinstall windows. I can't reinstall windows, because my hard disk drives are not set correctly, not found etc. I went into BIOS and nothing happens or it did not help. This is just a thought. Any advise will be helpful. Thanks once again

you can add the drive as a slave to another computer that already has a boot drive.and you might be able to read it. if your HDD is bad then trying to boot it in another PC won't matter unless its an issue with your motherboad / BIOS and not the HDD itself

You only have two choices with "reinstalling" Windows XP.

You can do a "repair" install, or a "full" install.

A repair install simply writes over the existing Windows files and corrects any corrupted files that may exist.

A full install will "format" your hard drive and you will lose all data/files/software on the hard drive.

The way to re-install Windows using the XP disk is to turn on the PC and put the XP disk in the CD drive. Then shut down or reboot the PC.

This will cause the PC to boot from the XP disk. A black and white screen will appear and you will be able to select the "repair" or "full" installation options. You need to decide which to do.

What you might do is to try the "repair" option. When the repair is done, make sure your PC either reboots itself, or you should reboot it manually.

If this doesn't correct your problems, then you should do the same process as described above and then sellect the "full" installation option. Just understand that this will make everything on your hard drive inaccessible and you will also need to reinstall any/all software you had on the hard drive.

Hope this helps.
