I have 10 cpus hooked up through a switch hub which is connected to the router. At random the dsl connection drops, so then we need to turn off the modem and router, then turn back on the modem, and then the router to get the signal back. Is this something wrong with my end or do I have a bad ISP connection?

It's been about a month now and I've been wracking my brains trying to figure out what is wrong that I cannot connect to the internet as soon as 6pm hits. I've tried tricking the computer an changing the time but that doesn't work. I've tried taking off the firewall and putting it back on and still doesn't work. I've tried about a million other things including system restore to three months ago when I knew the internet definitely worked at any time but no success with that either. Does anybody have any clues or solutions as to what's going on with my cuckoo computer?

encrypt it. That if I just installed the router, people would be able to break into my computer and access personal info etc. Do I really need to do this, or was the store just trying to get an extra $150? I don't know much about wireless, but want to set my laptop up with it. Thanks!

Ok here's the deal.

I need to have wireless internet in my house so that my desktop and my laptop can both be wireless. They already have wireless cards, but I do not have internet hooked up yet because Im not sure what is the best route to go.

I already have a wireless router, but I don't want to have to plug any wires into either of the computers. I want them both to be wireless.

Someone told me I could get something called a loopback box???

I dunno what I need.

OH YEAH DONT FORGET THIS...I don't have a phone line at my house either. So I will only be using the new line for the internet only.
Please let me know what I can/should do. I will give Best Answer to whoever helps me out soon.

List pricing info if you can. THANKS

I just bought a 2Wire 1800HG WIFI Wireless 802.11 Modem Router AT&T DSL. After some configuration on the setup page, I managed to get all the lights on the modem solid green. I am also able to connect my Playstation 3 online through the modem.

But when I try to connect online with my computer, it gives me a "connecting through WAN miniport (ppoe)" message then just stalls.

I was trying to connect through the same connection I had made from my SBC speedstream modem. Im wondering if I need to delete that and configure a new network connection and how I would go about doing that.

Help?

Right now I am on my sisters computer and the internet is working perfectly.
My computer's internet will not work because a network cable is unplugged. I have checked every plug and they all seemed to be plugged in fine...
Where can I find this network cable that is unplugged? Or, how do i fix this problem?

that person is taking up all the bandwidth and leaves the computer on all day so it make the connection slow as hell. I don't want to permanently disconnect them just temporarily. I tried going to control panel and network, I can see them but there is no way i can disconnect them, so I need another way of doing it, or am I doing it wrong?

if it helps the router that i have is the linksys WRT54G.

I downloaded a firmware update for the linksys wireless-G router I just bought (model# WRT54G-- ver.8) from the linksys website.
The file was compressed into a .bin format, but I have no idea how to extract it.
I have a trial version of Stuffit that I thought would work but it doesn't. (Or maybe I just don't know how to do it.)
WinRAR does not work either.
Is there a free download I can get that will decompress this file?
