I found two programs that are supposed to boost your connection > "TZ Connection Booster"

Gave options as to what type of connection (Dial up, DSL, Cable, Ethernet). I used the default settings for dial up and highspeed and no problems.

Also >".NETSpeedBoost"
Only problem is that you have to physically go to the ".NETSpeedBoost" installation folder to activate since it does not show up on the start menu.

Both of these can be found using any search engine using section in quotes.

Just a side note:> I have had both highspeed (Ethernet) and dial up and these programs gave me a boost with both Dial-up and highspeed. On high speed a 1.5GB file in 3 hours instead of 6 hours. Dialup allowed me to download a 5 MB in 25Mins instead of 45 mins, Almost a 50% gain both ways!

This was using Windows Xp Computer. Got a new computer with vista when old pc motherboard died.
So I do not know how it will work for vista.

I used both of these programs and my highspeed bandwidth went from 753KB/Sec to 1.8MB/Sec
My Dial up connected at the same speed but definitely performed faster, pictures even showed up quicker, not mention 5kbs to 8kbs at times! Although it only said 4.4 kbs.

You can test your speed (the in screen browser test takes a bit of time to start up for dialup and can range anywhere from 30secs to 2 mins.)

Hope this is helpful.

I am afraid you can't make your dial up connection faster. But you may be able to fasten up your downloads on a dial up connection using Download Managers such as Download Accelerator Plus. But however, there is a maximum speed for dial up connections. If you already get it (that is there is little conjestion in your Internet Service Provider), there is little these download managers can do.

If you can't upgrade to a broadband or ISDN and want faster connection with dialup, you can connect a second (and more) modems to your computer, each connected to seperate phone lines. You can then dial connections in each of these modems. This will increase the effective speed of your combined connection.
