they are just trying to scam you. once you buy your router and install it, there should be directions to set up a WEP address, just a fancy name for a password. If not, email me through my profile with info, ie. IP address, brand, model #, etc.
don't take advice on what router to buy. all modern routers have security settings enabled

Are you technicly capable to install and encrypt the router if you had instructions on how to do the work then forget about paying someone to set up the wireless system. Otherwise find some friend or local shop that will do it for you. Use the Yellow Pages to find a local shop.

That sounds like Sponsorship Scandal Redux except something like that flies under the radar.
For $150 any of us can do more than just encrypting a wireless network.
You may need to do this if hitchhiking your connection by neighbours became an issue.

The a million GB refers basically to the under pressure Ethernet velocity of the router once you plug in, and given which you have a Gigabit Ethernet adaptor on your pc Your instantaneous velocity continues to be constrained via the "G" or "N" instantaneous conventional transmission, and your cyber web connection continues to be constrained via what the ISP's DSL or cable line can feed you. yet record transfers between 2 under pressure-Ethernet desktops on your place if the two have GbEN adapters would be rapid.

at worst, I would charge $20 as it would take about 10 minutes to set up.
based on 10-20 minutes of work, What they wanted to charge is about $450 - $900/hour! They are insane!

If you're able to read the manual and follow directions, you should be able to do it yourself. If not, you should probably hire someone and $150 for someone to do a house visit isn't that outrageous.

Get a Linksys WRT54G. You can turn on WEP or WPA when you install it. Cost you about $45. If you need more help let me know.
