this thing was weird my first time i got a virus but this is what happened avg said you have a trojan horse would you like
to delete or quarantine it and as this happened there are pop ups sayin you have a virus install this program to remove it
and me being dumb i clicked on it and my avg went up again
saying another trojan was found and more pop ups were
there and i closed them and another trojan poped up so after
10 mins of this **** i deleted them and restarted my pc and everything was fine do you think in that time with the pop ups
avg made sure nothing malacious was going on like remote
communication or would avg autimatically disable such actions once it discovered the virus , also the only way i could
have got it was p2p cuz im smart about e mail attachments.

I've used it for over a year and it just started happening, maybe someone changed the settings?

I recently installed a Verizon FiOS network in my house, and everything works great with three of my four computers. The typical speeds I'm getting are 15,000kbps down and 3,000kbps upload. However, I have one computer which seems to be getting the download speed, but the upload speed on multiple speed test sites average 6kbps.

I've looked around, and I think this has something to do with packet loss, but I have no idea how to fix it. I'm almost positive the problem has to do with network or firewall settings on the problem computer, because all of the other computers are working fine both wirelessly and plugged in. Right now, that computer is only running Windows firewall (I did disable it, with no effect) and I did scan for viruses/trojans and spyware...the tests came up clean.

Any ideas on how to solve this?

i am confused because - When u look at some internet speeds regarding a modem its says it can transfer data up to 100/200/300 mbps. BUT ! i browsed some vids on youtube and people had the speeds at 2.0/4.0/4.8 mbps (is this shorthand for it ??) please help thanks

Hi,
I am currently working on a master's degree in network security and I have a bachelor's degree in networking. Many friends keep telling me that if I really want to be competitive in networking I should study to get certificates because anyone with certificates will get a job over me and my degrees. If anyone with experience can help me out with some advice I would be very grateful. Thank you in advance.

I have a lot of experience using ubuntu/linux, and one of my business clients has an Ubuntu server that I wish to securely remote control/access from anywhere with internet. I called comcast and set up a static business account IP address, so all I need now is to setup a program on the server to allow remote control via the internet. Is there a program to do this? and if so, is in the synaptic package manager? and finally, do I have to install a client version of the program on my windows computers or is there a way to do it via a web browser?

I have a wireless router about 50 feet away from my computer. Some weeks its so amazingly fast it would make you drool for 4 hours straight, but the next week it might be so slow you'd buy tickets to watch a snail race for some excitement. I hope that helps you answer.

Yes I have done: virus scan, defrag, spyware scan, gotten zonealarm, closed all other windows, etc etc. I'm looking for something not obvious.

I live in the country so DSL or cable is not an option for us. Our provider and equipment are Hughes.Net. My laptop is wireless ready. Can I buy a wireless router to hook into my system that would work? If yes, what would you recommend?
