My wireless network will only let my laptop connect if my network transmits it's ssid name, even though my laptop ip address is known by my network and the laptop has the correct security key put into the wireless software (Intel pro set) and sidd name.
If I tell my network not to transmit its ssid name my laptop will not connect, I have tried with the firewalls turned off, I have tried with different security keys, I have tried with different profile names.
So does anyone have an answer.

Everytime I enable WEP on my Netgear router it says the wireless connection is not available with a red 'x' next to the PC (with a signal coming out of it). When I take WEP off there is a connection. However, in both cases I am able to connect to the network with my laptop. I need to enable WEP, any ideas? Thanks.

seriously, we have a home wireless network, and i believe the ISP is SBC Yahoo! DSL, but evryone says that DSL maxes out at a mere 5mbps or so. Well, we have a Belkin Wireless Router(54g) that Runs at 110mbps for the main computer its connected to, and 54mbps for wireless transfers. We use 1 other desktop computer, and 2 laptops for a total of 3 wireless connections(both laptops are 802.11g0) i also use a PSP sometimes.(802.11b) What is this configuration called? i see roadrunner ads. boasting a massive 10 to 20mbps. In that case, if we got DSL, it is 54mbps; that beats the hell outta raodrunner, and everyone says RR is faster. Not in our case. Is this some souped up verison of DSL or what?

Ok, a friend of mine and I both play an online game called World of Warcraft. I would like to get a friend of mine on it and i have two computers at home so he could play on my other one. However, my father doesn't want me to download it on the second computer. My friend and I figured out that we could use a switch to network the computers together and use the shared files from the firts computer to play the game on the second without downloading it on the second. We did that and both computers have internet, but they cannot see each other in the network. And when i disconnect the internet they can see each other with minimal difficulty! I have tried restarting everything as well as taken down my firewalls and stuff like that. Does anyone know what the problem could be?
