Linksys Makes a good router. I've been Using one for about the past 3 years and havn't had a single problem with it. I'd go for wireless G. It has a much longer distance but also costs a bit more than the others. check em out if you want and shop around. but thats what I would go with.

I have Telewest as an ISP and telephone/cable TV provider. I too have 4 P.c's. I run from the Telewest modem into a Linksys Wireless-G which has 4 outlets for direct cable connection or optionally a wireless link and individual receivers plugged into the USB port on each computer. Very easy to set up and very reliable. I bought mine from PC World for under £50 for the complete package.

Just about any 4 port router would be OK to use .I would not go for the cheapest though.
I use a linksys its now 6 years old and 4 computers are connected, Never any problems.
Choose the Wireless-G -802.11g standard which is fully compatible with older systems ,then you will be ready for any future changes.

Assuming you have broadband; you want a wireless router which can talk to your broadband modem. Models that support this generally have a few ethernet "LAN" ports and one "WAN" port. They may be called "wireless internet router" or "wireless broadband router", there are also some models which include the broadband modem within the box, so there are less things to worry about.

Your local computer shop should be able to help you whittle it down to a few models which will work best for you. They'll probably want to know who your ISP is, what sort of modem they gave you, and what OSes you run on your computer.

And for wireless to work, you of course need to have a wireless card or wireless dongle connected to your machines. Check out your local yellow pages for computer shops that specialize in home networking.

Hope this helps!

I had the same problem x3 Do you have an internet cord hooking your modem and you router together? Is the Modem still hooked to your internet? Also, does your laptop have WiFi built in? If not, you will need an Adapter. But, I have a Netgear router and it works great. Im not sure how your works, but if it dosnt soon, try taking it back and getting Netgear. (Not the modem. Just the Router. Possibly Adapter if you dont have built in WiFi)
