my motherboared has 2 dual channel memory slots and the crusial memory test says that i have 4 so i was wondering if i could have a single channel stick in one slot and a dual channel stick in another?

Well in ctrl+alt+del i looked at networking and out of a 54 megabyte link speed it utaliazes only 3% (like 250kp) how do i booost this to 30%??

Hey. So I managed to knock my LG Flatron LCD Monitor, which cost me over £250 when i bought it :(, off the edge of my desk. It seems to have landed on my mouse, therefore cracking. It seems that the (excuse my limited knowledge :p) outter screen has not been damaged, but if i feel the screen it feels like think Broken Ice, if you will... 3/4 of the screen went white when turned on and a mass of multicoloured lines runs through this white background. The other 1/4 of the screen works as normal. Does this damage sound repairable or would the cheaper alternative be to simply buy a new monitor? Any help would be much appreciated, thanks in advance.

I have set up my talk talk wifi router. When I set it up it was supposed to give me a code which allowed me to stop other wifi users in the area accessing my wifi connection but I wasn't given this code.

Someone told me once what I can type in to the "Run" under the Start Menu that allows me to check or uncheck ANY programs that I want or dont want to run during windows start-up.

I believe it was something like "ms.startup.exe" or something but that isnt it.

I just downloaded a Windows Internet Explorer update. Now, sometimes when I click buttons on the screen (example, the preview button on answers) it goes to onestepsearch.net. I've tried everything I know how to do, but in the Network Connections options, I can only select WEP encryption. Is there any way to configure the laptop to connect to a WPA encryption, or do I need to reset the router's settings to WEP-128? I had trouble with my other laptop (Vista OS) connecting to WEP-128 also, so I'd like to keep the WPA encryption if possible. Thanks for your help in advance!!

I did a upgrade from MCE to Vista, so i have my Vista upgrade disk, Then hardrive took a crap and was replaced, (old hardrive REALLY is fine), but i have this new HD which needs to be formatted., and all my junk that i need to put onto the new HD from old HD.
How do I do this?

It seems like constant scanning of your entire disk for new or changed files would put a lot of strain on your hard drive. Will a hard drive that is backed up every night fail sooner than one that is only backed up every week? Have any studies been done on this?

I'm traveling. My wifi detector finds plenty of hotspots, but they all show a lock - meaning I have to have a WEP key to get in.

How do I establish an internet connection if I don't know who's running the hotspot or how to get the WEP key necessary to get on their hotspot?
