when using my PC I sometimes get messages asking me to "check my Browser". What is a "Browser" and where do I find the one I'm supposed to have on my PC so that I can check it? Oh and what are "cookies" and how can I enable or disable them?

Dear All,

We are having two offices and each office has seperate internal networks of windows XP computers operating as WORKGROUP, with each computer in both the networks having addresses such as 192.168.x.x

The networks are connected to internet by means of a DSL connection.

Now, we want to share a folder in one of the computers (say 192.168.0.5) in branch 'A' so that persons in branch 'B' are also able to read/write.

Both the offices are small and around 10 computers in each office.

Now my question is,

a) what changes in configurations are to be done for sharing for the above purpose.
b)Is 'VPN over internet' option in XP can be relied for security for office networks.
c)If not, what other options are available, and how to configure the systems.

I will surely vote for best answers..

thanks/regards,

There are a times when the server status apperas busy and the LAN Monitoring tools indicates a lot of LAN activity.
Does anyone know where I can download software to monitor the following;
1. Users and Computers connected, their names and IP addresses.
2. The activity on the LAN i.e users activity maybe they are copyiong or reading from the server.
3. The LAN statistics i.e the most active users and computers.
4. The software giving the option of net sending to computers/users on the LAN and remote shut down a client computer.

I have just recived a new webcam and am having trouble focusing. I have ajusted the lens but still cannot get a clear picture. I got it for free after a complaint to the store, so it may just be a cheap camera. It is from nexxtch. Is their cameras that have to be ajusted extermely (turning the knob for more than a full minute) or could this be a lighting probem

I'm currently living in Thailand. I use Skype, but I was wondering if there is a better program to use to contact my friends and relatives in the States. (I only have experience using Skype.) Thank you for your assistance.

Some hoser posted a nasty script in several forums on my MySpace group. The script made that page unreadable... it just appears white, but the one drop down browsing box is still viewable. Since it all appears white, I can't click the delete post feature to remove the nasty post. How do I fix all this?

I was going through the internet when I came upon this crazy of having (again) a desktop computer again with these specs:

PC/AT with flip-top casing
120 MB HD
1 5.25" floppy disk drive & 1 3.5" floppy disk drive
the OS is MS-DOS 5
complete with MS-Word for DOS, Lotus 1-2-3
a 15" gray scale monitor, a genius mouse
a RAM of about, say, 256K?

or maybe a Windows 3.1 OS....

guys, what do you think? and where can you possibly buy
these vintage? where can you download the mentioned
programs for free?

I'm wondering if there's a way to create a bootable disk without wasting a CD. Obviously I could use CD-RW. But lets say instead if I want to save an ISO to a place on my hard drive instead, and then have BIOS boot from it automatically, is it possible?

I want to buy a laptop and I found one with above specs, and has a 2 GB Ram , chipset of 945. Higher specs than this are more expensive. So if this is enough, maybe I will buy this.

I have decent internet in my apartment and use a cord instead of wireless because it is more reliable. Everything works fine, except wikipedia! For several days, only that site has refused to load! It won't even go to the main page. I've tried every URL possible, www, http, etc. NOTHING works. I've even gone and googled it and tried to click on the link. NOTHING. Why is it doing this??

I had my first HD for about 3 months before it started to sound like a popcorn making machine and just crashed. It was under warranty, so I had it replaced. I am now using my new HD and it is already starting to make the same noises again!
Does this grinding DEFINITELY mean my HD will crash soon? If so how long do I have before it goes out?
