It's not because of Vista, it's because you have Office 2007 and your school has Office 2003. When you save a document in Office 2007, click File>Save As, then choose Office 2003 document

If you created the document in Word 2007, then that's the problem. Microsoft in all it's wisdom decided to change the default "Save to" file extension from .doc to .xml, or something like that. So when you save a document in word, click the "Save as Type" box and use a different file extension. This is not a "Vista" problem.

Vista has Microsoft Word and the school probably has Microsoft Works. this is what they told me at the Library that they had had others with the same problem. i run into this with a resume. try copying it onto your Wordpad
(not notepad) and you can change the document type. you have 3 choices. click on the piece of paper icon

1.. Rich Text document-- which is the default (it should b that now)
2..Text Document
3..Unicode text Document

one of these may word. what i did was make 4 copies before so you do not loose your original work
GOOD LUCK

Vista is a much greater effectual working device than XP. It takes it sluggish to get used to the variations, yet standard it somewhat is plenty more suitable than XP. AND - it isn't any longer likely everywhere. the venture is you have crap/bloatware on your device. regrettably the pc makers (i'm chatting with you Dell) positioned a team of this on there to make some added money, yet in the tip it is screwing up the person journey. My advice - take each little thing off the device you dont' want or want. greater effectual yet! format and initiate off over. you will love the overall performance and the look and sense. additionally, in case you won't be able to get a application to run under it, you the two dont understand what you're doing, it is extremely previous or some thing else is broken alongside the way.

School may not have word, may use works or some other WP. Try next time writing and saving it in wordpad. Almost any windows computer has it, and it avoids the whole word/works compatibility issue.

Signs? Like gibberish?

The PC at school must have a different version of Word.
