my motherboared has 2 dual channel memory slots and the crusial memory test says that i have 4 so i was wondering if i could have a single channel stick in one slot and a dual channel stick in another?

Yes, but they probably won't act as dual channel. Dual channel is usually all or nothing. You can't have half of your memory banks acting as dual channel and half not.

Technically speaking, dual channel memory is a marketing gimmick. Basically, if two mem modules are identical, then they would be guaranteed to work together in a dual channel situation. However, if you don't overclock, you MAY get two separate mem modules to work together. However, it's just much simpler to buy two that's identical and sell them as "dual channel memory". They are no different than regular memory except each have a "twin brother", so to speak.
