My computer cannot detect my webcam, it is in the same port used for printer

I am using AirtelBroadband with the speed of 100mbps. its not in a network. but unfortunately it is too slow that a 4 minutes file is taking 20 to 30 minutes to load it. a 30 minutes file is taking almost 3-4 hours to download. why its happening like that? Do you a suggestion to solve this problem?
I'm using WinXP professional, P4 processor, 1gb RAM, 12gb HD, cat6 cable. Please help.

Ok Everyone at school says "Man you gotta watch this video its sick!" so im like ok. But when i try to watch it (First mistake) it asks me to download a codec and i clicked cancel and moved on. Then i saw another link and it asked same thing so i downloaded it (for whatever reason) and i just found out that: Yay i downloaded a virus... How can i remove it. Whenever i try to open an application it says:
Your browser was hijacked by Trojan.Win32.Agent.akk
You need to clean your system immediately, in other casr it can be crashed soon!

I click no everytime because i think its gonna make it wors because of "high-tech" doesnt sound like something windows would say. I used a scanner and found Trojan.Vundo file and it said it may have secretly installed itself downloading a plugin or codec but i cant remove it without buy ing full version! Any ideas??!!

Before I ask please don't laugh and please don't tell me that the laptop is a dinosaur.
A frend of mine has given my son a laptop, it is a Toshiba780 and pentium 2. It has an internal modem (dial up) and runs windows 98. My question is that my son would like to use the laptop on broadband internet,is this possible? I know absolutely zilch about pc's and laptops, I hava a pc which is on Tiscali Broadband and would like to know if my son can have a modem fitted that enables broadband or ADSL or whatever it is that we use.

now burning a cd or a dvd with nero takes a lot of time ...i used to burn a cd in 4 minutes and a dvd in 7 or 8 minutes...now it takes 40 minutes to do the same with a dvd or a cd...

i tried to do a simulation to see the maximum speed...at the end there's this message...

" can only write at 24X instead of 48X . Speed of source data is too slow "

what the hell does that mean ...any ideas ...i really need help ...;-(

hi all
got a jvc video recorder i wish to upload some parts of the video onto my pc

Not sure what software i should use and also do i need to buy a special lead that goes from my vid cam to the pc?
I do have a lead its got red/black/yellow and white leads and also a black one,this one is a multi plug type i have plugged it into the camera but i cannot view the video on my pc altho i can still see it on my video camera.
any advise is welcome

it says because of missing file..then it says you can attempt to fix this by repairing it with windows setup... so I did that, I ran windows setup from a windows xp installer..when i tried to repair it, it says "no hard disk detected, repair not done." what does this mean? when I tried to format it, it also indicated "no hard disk detected..." what could I do? what's wrong with my laptop? please help me. thanks a lot guys and gals.

As new ATi HD 3870 card are working with DX 10.1 is that a better choice i mean non of other card works with DX10.1 ....

about 3 weeks ago my Power Supply Unit(PSU) started making a disturbing noise... I ignored it planning on getting a new PSU as soon as i could. I wasn't having any problems except for having to always turn the pc on twice before it would boot up properly.

2 weeks ago i turned the PC off and then tried turning it on again a few hours later but nothing shoed up on the screen. There were a few clicks coming from the mobo as soon as i turn the power on which didn't used to happen. Everything else sounded like it was working properly, But its hard to tell what was happening without being able to see anything on the screen. The PSU was still grinding. It was a 500W.

Then 1 week ago i got my new PSU (500W) and installed it and everything was working fine. No clicks, no noise, nothing! I used it about 5 times over the last week with no problems.

Now this morning i tired turning it on and the clicks were back! it's def coming from the Motherboard. The new PSU is working fine-no noise.

help!

guys i started my pc today after 4 days and i was getting a message everytime i started firefox ,to update but i clicked on later all time and today i accidently clicked update and the browser started updating but after that when i launched the browser it says error site cannot be found. so i uninstalled firefox and tried again but it was still giving the same message that cannot be found error but my internet explorer is working fine..so i downloaded opera and was hoping that firefox was corrupted or something but opera also gives the same message that page cannot be found and error when i launch it...so please help me guys because i dont like using internet explorer i am addicted to firefox...i hope someone has a solution for this problem i have...

I have yahoo DSL service, with the 2fast modem/router. My wife has a laptop with wireless card, so she connect easily.

My son has a desktop. What is the easiest way to connect his desktop pc to the same DSL connection? His room is next to my office. The phone jack in his room does not currently work, or he could at least have dial-up. His PC is a few years old, but does have WinXP (we loaded this - It had Win98, I think)

i want a note book but every one wants me to get a decks top one i have a hp decks top one that is not working useing some one elses now may get one for xams i hope. they keep saying the note books dont last long as the decks tops pc do thanks. sorry typeing fast.
