My computer is very out of date and only has Windows 98 on it. I only use it for school but need to download some kind of Virus protection. I know nothing about them and could use some help.

Take it from me, paid stuff often hogs gadget components and you incredibly don't get to any extent further powerful protection, so its own decision, i exploit Avast, it sits there with the genuine time protection, updates immediately, and has the added boot-time test which in my opinion is had to truly application of this type, and after a three hundred and sixty 5 days you re-new the licence by an exceptionally uncomplicated on line technique, wish this permits.

I recommend BitDefender (but make sure it is compatible with Windows 98 before downloading).
Failing that, then I guess AVG or Avast. I would usually recommend Avira AntiVir PE Classic, but it does not support Windows 98, sadly.

Absolutely AVG. However, it is sometimes difficult to find the link for the free version. I have attached a link. Keep in mind that this will not protect you from intruders..ie. firewall..just from viruses.
