You should check Dell or HP. They have laptops under $450. Other than that Walmart should have some.

Dell, but in this case, you DO get what you pay for. Dells are awful. I found that out personally. HPs/Compaqs also stink, and Gateways are only marginally better. I own a Toshiba that NEVER does anything funky to me; it just starts and runs, like a computer should. If you can't afford a new one, I'd say look on eBay for a good used one that's being sold by someone with 100% positive feedback.

We're considering purchasing a block of cheap laptops to give away to Clients for a promotion, so I've been researching looking for really cheap laptops.
I found one at Tiger Direct (www.TigerDirect.com) that right now sells for $449.99 -- that's pretty low!
It's an ACER ASPIRE 3680
I'm not sure you'll find one any lower than that -- at least one that actually comes with a Windows OS already installed.

More likely than not, it's the one with the lowest price. (i.e. if there were two laptops - one for $1,000 and one for $1,500, the lower priced of the two would qualify as the cheapest.)

a 2 part answer for you
1. a refurbished one, they are all over the web and even "retail" stores such as Laptop Exchange.
2. Ebay, where one can search for specific system elements such as RAM and processor speed. There are "stores" here that have refurbished also.

I have been going through this trouble to if your looking for one in the 500 or 600 look at www.dell.com or if your on a specific budget go to www.walmart.com and go by your price like from 125 to 500

acer thats the kind i have and it was 345$ wich is pretty cheep fora laptop its called acer aspire 3680 i got mine in july and it has never done anythig weird to me
