Hi I have a Dell Vostro 1000 with these specs:
ATI Radeon Xpress 1150 (integrated video card)
1.8 ghz AMD sempron 3500+ processor
WIndows Xp Home
2GB of RAM
60GB Hard drive

I downloaded the Battlefield 2142 demo and the only map on there is Sidi Power Plant. I actually can play this game with barely any lags. Would it be the same way if I buy the real Battlefield 2142? Or are the maps have much more graphics? I dont lag too much in the demo... its not really smooth though... but i can play it pretty well..... but it doesnt skip so...

How does the demo compare to the real game? My friend says that all the maps have the same type of graphics... its just that sidi power plant sucks. Is this true? Will i play as good as I do on the demo? Will i play worse? Will i play BETTER because it is just a demo?

You have to wait in a cue for over an hour. You get passed from pillar to post when you do get through. Has anyone else had these problems?

Given that a Mac is way more expensive than a PC, does the difference justify the price? It seems as though Macs users are militantly loyal to Apple. I know apple has done a great advertising job associating it's brand as "cool, hip, young, trendy" and all that stuff while the PC is for boring accountant types. But is this just marketing or is there any real reason why designers prefer Mac?

first off is AMD vs. Intell iv read that Intell is clearly ahead of the game but is better for applications other then gaming.... AMD is the better gaming choice as far as i understand...yes? no? ok so heres my idea of spec.
AMD Athlon 64 x2 6400+ dual core Socket AM2 ($209)

not sure whats the better MoBo (must be AM2) <-- big question. ($50-$150) (there is a Biostar NF520-A2 nForce 520 socket AM2 $70 but its a cheap POS)

Radeon x1550 512Mb 16x PCI Express video ) definitly up to advice

400 GB 7200RPM SATA 8MB cache (of couse this is always negotiable and the easiest thing to change for final build)

the rest is just preference after that but im gonna try to keep it within $500 by building it myself

If you built a gaming machine (or 10) give me some ideas on what better choices could be... thanks in advance :)

Any reason to spend the extra $100 on a quad core? I have not read any reviews that show the advantage for a quad core.

The only real reason for a quad core would be gaming programs that have not been created yet to take advantage of the advanced mutli-threading.

The 6750 with 1333 fsb look pretty sweet. Don't see any real reasons why to go for the quad core except for the 8 mb L2 cache. I have actualy read reviews where the quad core slowed down the computer since they quad cores sometimes have to write to the HD to multi-task!

I know a lot about computers and many different programming languages, but this is a feature I would think these programs should have and yet I cannot find a way to lock them.

I use Mozilla Firefox primarily. What I want to know is whether or not there is a way to lock the window so I don't accidently exit it. I have a tendancy of doing that. While I'm working I having many windows open and I'd like to have one that's connected to the internet that I cannot close by clicking the X.

Any advice here is appreciated.

I have been trying to find out if I can increase the signal for a wireless signal when I am staying in a hotel? I do not want to plug in cards, but if there is a USB type device that can be plugged in to increase the signal strength that would be great. Thanks for your help.
