PPPoE is Point-to-Point Protocol over Ethernet, It is used to validate a user and allow or not allow that connection to the system. The information is "encapsulated" in the packets sent back and forth to the connection.

A bridge type of a connection to the internet allowing ethernet to "bridge" to a network using MAC (hardware) information..

Many broadband systems will use BOTH they are not exclusive and are not overly similar.

Don't know how either of these are BETTER. You may need both. So I guess I don't understand your question, or you don't understand the real question you are asking. Which you will use is largely dependant upon the ISP that supplies your connection. For a more detailed answer see
