You have to wait in a cue for over an hour. You get passed from pillar to post when you do get through. Has anyone else had these problems?

Part of several customer service roles is to arrange sales of different products. The whole premise is now [Expletive Deleted].

We should storm the corporations and burn their customer relations departments to the ground. Meet me on the corner on Friday...

I have had this problem since I brought my internet over to BT at the end of June, only this week did I make any headway to getting it resolved. This was after BT failed to bring my old line over properly and then lost my phoneline so I had to get a new line and number!! Set up two internet accounts for one house and tried to charge me twice! Sent me two sets of equipment and expected me to pay the postage to return the second set! But if you keep at them you will get money back, keep a record of when you call and who you talk to (VERY important)

I managed to get compensation of over £300 so it is definitely worth not giving up. Always ask to speak to somebody higher than the person you are talking to as it puts a fire under them (nobody wants to be reported to the boss!)

Also never ring the premium rate lines, ring the free number and ask to be connected and you won't have to pay!

If all else fails, threaten them with the telecommunications ombudsman as this got my compensation from only 3 months free line rental to over £300

I feel your pain! Bt messed us around for 2 months when we were trying to get our broadband in. They were quite willing to take our money but very lazy about getting us connected. Twice they 'forgot' to send out the router and then sent us the wrong one. When i rang to chase it up I got through to the rudest most uninterested people in their call centre. We were also charged for internet use when we didn't even have the router to connect us! They only praise I can give Bt is for their tech support staff who were extremely helpful and knew exactly what they were talking about.

Yep, i was sorting it out for my dad when he got broadband.... oh hold for ages, then through the the wrong dept, then on hold... drove me nuts!

I hated BT before that, but now I despise them and will be switching to Talk Talk - that way I don't have to deal with the money grabbing, crappy service providing company again!

Rant over.

I had the same problem when I tried to cancel with my ISP. They even had a website which had an option 'Cancel' but they would not do it. They gave me an 0871 number to call to cancel but knowing that they will get a cut of the fees from an 0871 number, I refused to call them. They will let you hold in a queue and collect their money. So I complained to www.ispa.co.uk on their website. Within 2 days I heard from my ISP asking if I wanted to cancel (What an idiotic question!).

Cancel your payments. Not only will they cut you off anyway, they'll call you if you ignore their reminders. Saves you stumping up cash on your phone bill, doesn't it?

I have, indeed, had the same problems. And that's how I dealt with them. Cancelled the direct debit and waited for the phone to ring whilst ensuring that I had the money to pay them when they asked for it. And while paying my arrears, I made it unmistakably clear to even the most stupid person that I did not require reconnection to their over rated service.

Interesting....

I had sort of the reverse with TalkTalk. I had an ongoing problem for weeks and weeks and weeks, to which they failed to provide a solution. But when I finally gave up with them and CANCELLED, they responded within only a few hours to disconnect the service. My guess is that they are selling everyone short on Bandwidth and they are keen not to allow any dormant connections consume their dwindling resources.

Avoid TalkTalk
