Rather than zapping random programs, download Mike Lin's Startup Contol Panel, which will help you control which things startup when you reboot.

Basically, you can turn off everything except your antivirus and antispyware software. If you find out you miss something you unchecked,you can always check it again, the applet does not delete any software.
