I'm using the internet through a router, so probably due to NAT or whatever, online website port scanning doesn't seems to work on my PC.

Is there any software to scan certain port on my own system to check if it's open or close?

Something is very wrong with this computer at work. First the desktop was extra large and I fixed that by going into display and appearance and changing the resolution there. That fixed the icons on the desk top. But when we go on the net, it is so large that you can see the pixals, believe it or not. I set 'view' to smallest and it still doesn't make it anywhere near normal. I don't know how it got that way and have looked at every control I can think of and can't find anything else to change. HELP... need a real tec person... What can I do. We can not use the computer like this.

I just bought a brand new headset with microphone. But I can't record anything with it. I think it's my sound card because everyone seems to have problems with SigmaTel. Thats all I know.. .any suggestions? New sound card?

This is not my laptop...but the person's kid spilled soda or something on it, and the keyboard doesn't work. I took it off and sprayed it with warm water, then blew it out with compressed air. Still didn't work.

I disabled the onboard keyboard, and plugged in a USB keyboard. That didn't work either.

Might the problem be something else besides the keyboard?

EVERYTHING else works. Touch pad, connecting to the internet, video, everything. Except the keyboard.

Any ideas?

i had a amd turion 64x2 hp pavilion dv 9000 but i just sold it to buy a newer moder, now i don't know wich one to decide, i have currently a desk top i build with intel pentium extreme edition 3.20 GHZ, i had a p4, and works great, and my laptop (the one i sold) is amd turion 64x2, and works great, but i want a more expert advice if possible, the model i want is HP PAVILION DV9500 and they offer amd and intel, so there is the dilema. thanks

My homepage has been hijacked to this url = http://fwooshnet.com/ with a GOOGLE page. Along with this: (1) my pc slowed down; (2) when i go to Internet Options to change it, the Home Page part has grayed out; (3) when i try to open REGEDIT, i only got this message, "Registry editing has been disabled by your administrator"; (4) once in a while, another IE browser is loading even if i'm not opening another browser. I have already sanned it using McAfee but there was no virus detected. Will someone tell me what it is and how can I fix it?

I have a Spartan PC and The sound basically sucks...my grandson wants to be able to watch DVDs on it so I bought USB Powered Speaker System But I can't get it to work...I can hear a sound....if My ear is up to it But not the noise from the video...just nothing! I have a hp slimline s3100y and it only takes low profile video cards. Hp says use a card that takes 30 watts or around. I heard the http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814127301
uses around 40 watts. I only have 160w powersupply. Would it be dumb to put that video card in?
