Man there has been some bad stuff said here. AMDs used to be faster than Intels at the same Ghz, that has changed now. The Core 2 Duos are faster overall, but usually a little more expensive. Also make sure to look at the video card included, that is another important aspect, and might be different between the two.

As for what Don M said, what the hell was he talking about. I actually like Dell, and own a Dell, but "there service is beyond compare." SERIOUSLY?!?!?!? There service is the biggest joke in the entire comptuer industry, you call them and have to wait 30 minutes just to talk to someone who can barely understand you and 90% of the time can't fix your problem.

When comparing Dell and HP, the exact opposite of what he said is true, if you want value go with Dell, if you want quality and service, go with HP.

It really isn't a Delima at all. Both AMD and Intel both are top of the line in proccesors.
The choice is going to be what to do in 3 months when they come out with the next generation. and then 6 months after that.
I am a little bit at odds at the fact you have chosen an HP instead of a DELL.
At any rate that choice is yours.
For my money I prefer the Dell over any computer on the market for a myrid of reasons not to forget Consumer Report. There service is beyond compare. Period.
If I were you I would do some real serious shopping.
If price is an issue then you get the HP but if Quality and Longevity is an issue Dell all the way.
Both are excellent
Don

It really depends on what you pan to do with it and how much you want to spend. Both are dual core processors and should have plenty of performance for most of todays applications. If the software that you are using was compiled with an intel compiler it will run better on the intel chip and if it was compiled using an AMD compiler it will run better on the AMD chip. For the most part you will not be able to notice the difference between the two processors.

Both AMD and Intel have made significant strides in taming the power hungry processors that they used to sell so you chould have decent battery life with either one.

if they have the same speed (ie: GHz) and same number of cores then amd is better, I went to a site once where they tested similar systems with just the only difference of amd and intel cores and amd kicked intel's a** so u'r better off with an amd processor, plus amd's cheaper
the only down side is that amd don't have 4 core processors (if there is then I've never heard about them)
