im looking for one that is easy to use or to learn and one that has a variety of virtual instruments.

ive already tried frooity loops, so anything appart from that.

I'd say Ardour based on the original question. Though it's a DAW for multi-track audio production, the virtual instrument thing would be something MIDI or the like.

For drums/percussion I'd say Hydrogen.

Something along the lines of fruity loops would be LMMS, which is only for Linux.
