my cursor was moving all over the screen an i had no control over it so i downloaded the drivers for the touch pad on my dell an now i cant highlight text to copy.

left click hold and go over the words..right click copy. i'm not sure what your asking. maybe thats right.

If you can't get it fixed, you can also highlight to copy by holding the shift key and using the arrows to select the text to copy.
You can also load a windows accessibility feature that makes the key pad a mouse pad, but on a lap top that might be really exciting.
I have a Dell desktop and use a drawing pad with mouse or pen, wired mouse, keypad mouse and keyboard commands for selection, so it should be working.

The touch screen driver(s) are probably non-compatable with the mouse. If you mouse won't capture text going from the beginning to the end, then try reversing it and highlight from the bottom up. You can't download "text" as text if it's actually an image, and it's easy to confuse the two. Another way is to use "Source" to glom the ASCII, et al, as a notebook file....
