I have been using a Mac at work which has 89 hertz refresh rate...it is a delight on the eyes...This is an old Mac. I am about to buy a computer and would like to match this but don't even know where to start...it seems as if no new models allow for adjusting the refresh rate. Do any of you know how this can be done or what is the best way to get a computer that is adjusted for sensitive eyes?

I have been using the KDE Version of Ubuntu Setup as a dual boot system My nvidia Vidieo adapter works under Vista and in linux .My Haupauge win tv 250 tv card works fine in linux but not in Vista using Win tvs apllication .I had to use Dscaler to get my tv to work under Vista. My worst problem is when I attempt to clone Dvds I get error messages no matter which program I try even though the disk isn't encrypted( Trying to copy a cloned disk that was decrypted using dvd fab gold under windows.Other than this I am finding Linux to be more hardware compatible than Vista. Is anybody else having problems?and has anyone tried the beta of the new version of Ubuntu codenames Gutsy Gibbon

Hi, I was wondering if I can replace the Celeron M 380 in my laptop (Intel 910 GM/GMS chipset) with a Celeron D 345?

I realize this is going from a laptop CPU to a desktop CPU, but they are both for Socket 478, and both are around the same voltage (1.3v).

Thanks!

My aunt wants to convert old photos to digital by taking a picture of them with her digital camera instead of by scanning them. I have tried to convince her that you lose the quality of the photo, but she refused to listen. To get through to her, I need to find information I can forward to her (i.e. third party validation) for her to believe me. Does anyone know where I can direct her (website/book/article) to show that she should scan all the family photos?

My computer system information says that I have a Total Physical Memory of 261,424 KB, Available Physical Memory of 61,604 KB, and Total Virtual Memory of 892,412 KB. What does this mean? I was under the impression that I need at least 256 MB of RAM to run Windows XP (I have the program) and I presently have Windows 2000. Can anyone enlighten me?

How to i get Vista to display dual monitors correctly.
The wallpaper doesnt go straight accross it just clones the wallpaper on each monitor as if they were both their own desktop.

The only settings i have are tile full and center. None of these options display the picture across the desktops.

I've been talking to a girl on myspace for a while (lame as hell... I know) we haven't talked for a while, so I thought I would write her a message, when I go to do so is says an error has occurred while trying to process your request, weather I try to reply to her from my page, or send a new message on hers. Did she block me? or is this just an error message? What is the message you get if you try to send someone who blocked you a message?

-thanks

Hi,

I'm a new member of this exciting site. Here follows my first question. I wish everyone the best of luck and success.

Most motherboards come with an on board video capabilities. Under what circumstances do I need to add an external video card ?

To be more specific, If I purchase a motherboard that uses the G33 Intel Chipset (comes with graphics accelerator) such as the ASUS P5K-V, what would I need an additional Video card for ? What capabilities does it add to functionality ?

Thanks,

Steve

An IP keeps getting blocked from my firewall. Two of them actually. They are 195.10.34.40 and 89.149.169.67

The thing that it keeps blocking is called a "SYN ACK"

What is this and what does it mean?

I have a folder or two on my computer that I was wondering I could attach a password too and how to do that. I don't use a shared computer but there are instances where my roommate will sneak on and use it. And I really don't feel like setting the password protection on my screen saver because I'm a lazy bum!!!!

So is it possible?
