it starts deflating again. I can't think what's wrong with it. When I bought it, it came with two nuts at the end of the valve (before I put it on the wheel) I think one is to go on the outide of the rim and one on the inside so the valve doesn't slip into the rim.

I've changed all the float needles, and two of the four carbs are still flooding badly. The only thing I can put it down to, is a float level drama. Can anyone help with the following questions? a) what height to set the floats?, and b) is the measurement to be taken with the carbs up-side-down, or right way up? Every other carb component is O.K. This bike has massive sentimental value, so just throwing it away, isn't an option. For it's sake, though. It's lucky there's not an active volcano close by !!!

I have a 99 CBR 600 F4 with 13k miles. I recently bought it used, and after riding it today (mostly freeway) I have calculated it is getting 37 MPG. Isn't that low? Anyone else have figures for their 600 sport bikes I can compare that too?

If it is low, any idea why? There is a K&N air filter in the bike and a carbon fiber slip on exhuast, but the carbs were not recalibrated after those changes. I suspect the bike is running lean. Does that explain the low MPG?

I just bought a FZR600 and discovered oil coming from the hole in the cooling fins on the "passenger" side of the head. I assume it's been dropped before but I don't know that for sure. I'm wondering if anyone knows what this hole is. I've been told by one mechanic that the oil may be leaking in from the valve cover gasket or the seals around the spark plugs. Another mechanic told me that it's just a factory drilled hole that had a plug in it and the plug probably just fell out. They said if I hammered a BB in it, it would plug the hole and I would be fine. I'm kind of nervous about hammering a BB into my engine because it would be very bad if it went into one of the cylinders. Has anyone else out there seen this type of leak and know how to fix it?

It only does it on long rides, and goes away if I blip the throttle. The bike still runs perfect, no ticks or other engine noises. I take really good care of the bike, changing the oil every 3000. I use full synthetic race oil, 10w-40. Any suggestions would gretly be appreciated. Thanks

While in 5th the bike locked up for a second then died...I started it back up and about half and hour later it did the same thing and now i cant get it started. I tried new spark plug, completely cleaned the carburator, but dont have much experience taking the top end apart. Any ideas what it is? I'm guessing i blew the top end.

I know in Phila, PA the law changed a couple of years ago. I don't understand. Aren't a lot more people gonna die now due to the lack of head protection if they were to get in an accident?

I am in Arizona and am considering buying a bike that is mechanically sound form a salvage yard. They told me I would have to get a salvage title from the MVD. How does this work and is it worth it? Any info will be appreciated (except smart *** answers of course!).

I am not a mechanic and have been trying to educate my self on what it would take to get this bike going again. I guess to prove to myself I could try, I was able to take off the tank & treat it, getting the rust out of the tank. Is it worthwhile getting a bike this age started again and what all would need to be done.
