I have a '95 Yamaha Virago that has been in the shop for a new starter since May 1. It took a couple days before the diagnosis, then 7 days to get the wrong part, etc etc etc. Had they received the right part, it would be a two-week repair for the most common problem with this year of my bike.
Is this sort of repair time excessive? Typical?
The Virago is my first bike, and this is my first time to deal with repairs. My experience with cars is that nearly any repair can be done the same day. I know that an older bike may require a special part order, so I am struggling with what a reasonable expectation for repair times should be. For all I know, three weeks+ is great service.
In other words, should I look for a different shop the next time I need repairs?
