What you are really asking is why people criticize your Honda followed by why don't you get a real motorcycle, meaning a Harley. Those comments are common by non motorcyclists such as non owners and Harley owners. Rest assured that they are idiots who don't understand motorcycles at all, and who have been LED to believe that Harley is the only bike to have. Harley enthusiasts have ruined the motorcycling community with their prejudices and segregation from the intelligent motorcyclists. I once ran the sales department at a Harley dealer. In the middle of winter a struggling young couple came in carrying a baby with no shoes and signed to take on payments for a new Harley. Priority malfunction? I sold a new Harley to a guy who cursed the Japanese bike makers as he purchased his American Iron. He drove up in his Nissan pickup truck. By the way, gotta take out those mufflers so everybody can cringe at the senseless noise they make. Harley riders are NOT motorcyclists!

Most who suggest which motorcycle to buy (and have never owned one themselves) are likely wanting you to purchase the very motorcycle they would own had they the courage and/or resources to do so.

From my own experience, I know this to be true. I was a hair's breadth away from buying a Yamaha R6 a few years back. However, I realized that it wasn't practical enough for my financial situation at the time and that I'd likely mangle myself badly while riding it. If those circumstances change, I will ride one home from the dealer. Until then, I will continue to give my humble opinion to those in the market for such transportation.

One don't have to own a motorcycle in order to know what is the best one. It is all about research. Then again, maybe they were experienced and did own one in the past. Don't judge, just take the advice and do whatever you want with it, including putting it up on the shelf. I lost my fiance on a used motorcycle, and he was a newbie. He didn't listen to others advice. I was the one alive to realize that all these people who was giving him advice actually ride and own a motorcycle when they were young. So you will never know.

There's a certain style / stigma attached with different types of bikes. Some people just look good on a Harley and would not look good on a crotch rocket. Some younger guys might look better riding a Honda or the like.

because they are idiots!
plain and simple
you and only you can tell what you should be riding,
since not everyone likes the same things, and everyone has a different riding style.
What I hate even more then this, is people telling you HOW you should ride and what you should do, when they dont have the blindest bit of sense. Or the non-bikers completely dis-regarding the people who do ride bikes.

Bottom line either your a rider or your NOT. If you ride a moped then yes your a rider like it or not. All the way through trikes Harley's and sport bikes. You shouldn't listen to someone who doesn't ride they just don't know. I'm riding a GSXR-750 hope this helps. Ride to Live!!!

1. they don't understand.
2. they are probably worried.

My special friend often tells me my bike is too big for me. I'm not going let my small size inhibit my skills. Just because i cant touch the ground or push a 470lb bike up an incline doesn't mean i shouldn't be riding it!! He just doesn't understand and is worried.

BTW, im 5' and weigh 100lbs riding a Honda Nighthawk 750.

Some people believe that motorcycle riding is a cult or club.
They feel obliged to tell you what they heard about bikes
Its true that everyone has opinions, and most of them stink.

Because they are too chicken Sh*t to ride themselves so it makes them feel cool to act like they know about bikes. Most of them are just a bunch of posers. Buy what you like. After all, you'll be the one riding it, not them.
