Depending on the state that you live in, you'll need a learners permit for the motorcycle. After you have gotten the practice and experience (usually 6 months to 1 year), you then take the test for your license. If you pass you are then given your motorcycle license. Also, in getting your license, you either have to be at least 16 or 17 years of age minimum. For some first time operators, take the local motorcycle safety course. Average costs should come around $200.00 . This course is the same course that the DMV will give you. Pay attention to the instructors, ASK questions and practice.

For starters a valid drivers license. Just study the section on motorcycles in the drivers manual. Go take the test, ride for a season, get some experience at riding a motorcycle with a permit, then go get your endorsement.

Calif. ? 15-1/2 pass written motorcycle test for permit..(good for 6 mo).READ THE BOOK!! I had been riding for 20 years and thought I didn't need to read it and flunked....you might have to have drivers training, and drivers written and parents permission. 16 you can take the keyhole rider test at DMV or pay for a class that will certify you and then taked that cert. into dmv and they will provide the license
