I am in Arizona and am considering buying a bike that is mechanically sound form a salvage yard. They told me I would have to get a salvage title from the MVD. How does this work and is it worth it? Any info will be appreciated (except smart *** answers of course!).

I would also like some input from people that have done this. Was it worth it? What problems did you have? Do any of you do this for a living? Buy broken bikes and fix them and sell them? Details are appreciated.

I did a salvage cycle few years back- OK, more than few years now. R50/2 from Chicago police impound after a crash. Engine turned over, alternate BMW had caught on fire so get the front end damaged one and scrounge from other riders and collectors shelf- had it on road about 3 weeks later as a rough rat bike but it was on the road- R51 front end fit and a Harley K fender fits perfect on that front end. Took about a year to get better restore and license plates after inspection, made the rallies for few years, was good little project but never intended for a profit, business. Couple other projects- Little CM400 Honda has Yamaha forks, still used as a trainer. Little Georgia last registered scooter got Iowa title with a $75.00 refunded after a year bond. Again these were personnel projects, not business deals- my own use and they did get used

18) How do I apply for a restored salvage title?
Complete a title application, have a Level II/III inspection conducted, obtain an emissions compliance certificate (if applicable), surrender the salvage title with the application and pay a $4.00 title fee – plus registration fees (if applicable).

your best bet is going to the motor vehicle and let them know you are picking up a salvage parts bike and make one compleate motorcycle out of it, or ask a salvage yard what to do...FLA.
