In 1984, (There were no Busas, or R-1s, or anything else on the list from the other answer) , as I said in 1984 the Honda V-65 Saber or Magna, the Suzuki GS1100, the Yamaha VMAX,
and the Kawasaki KZ1000 were the fasted stock street bikes. The V-4 engines in the Honda's, and the Vmax made around 118 H.P. , had great torque, and wound up fast. You can go on line and see old road test of these bikes. These V-4s made in 84 will still dust any of the current CRUISER bikes from Honda, Yam, Suzuki, Kawasaki, or Harley. These bikes were under five grand in 84. The V-4s, though a lot heavier than todays sport bikes, were lighter than todays cruisers, and ran 0-60 times from around 3.0-3.6, good mid range, and qtr. mile times. Of course the new sport bikes are a lot lighter and have more top end. Bot these bikes in 84 were considered muscle bikes, OR muscle cruisers, not sport bikes.

Fastest Production Motorcycle

Good question. I'm assuming you're talking about production bikes and not racers. Hunter Thompson would have sworn it was a Vincent Black Shadow, which was undoubtedly a fast bike, but pretty old technology by then. I can't remember exactly when the Ninjas started coming out, but I don't think they were out then. Kawasaki had a 750 - 3 cyl. that was wicked and fast, but probably a few years before then. I don't think Honda or Yamaha had a production bike that was fast to that extent then. I'd have to go with the Kawasaki, unless someone more knowledgeable can remember specific models more than 20 years ago. I'd be interested in why you're asking.

The fastest production streetbike in the world in 1984 was the V65 Magna, by Honda. Remember people, we're talking production streetbike here.

I found this at the link below - I think it covers your question fully.

What is the fastest production motorcycle – without modifications made?
