More then likely it can not be kicked in the forward direction. You should be able to see what direction it will allow you to direct it by the way it swivels outward away from the engine, because most motorcycles do this to tuck back after start so nothing sticks out to be caught on. Yes it is done on the Yamaha Banshee and the Honda TRX 250X's (I have both) but that is in the case that they are ATVs and the stability factor that you don't have to hold it up while starting. So in a nut shell it all comes down to the brand, style, and also year of bike your talking about. All-in-all I hope this helps you alittle more with your question.

I've never seen that on a motorcycle.
The Yamaha Banshee (race quad) you kick the kick starter forward.
My Honda CR250 has the kick-starter on the left (kick start it backwards).
I had a Jawa that you would push the shift lever (on the left side) in towards the engine. Then you rotate it up and it would be the kick-start lever (kick to the rear).
Honda Goldwing 1000's had the kick start lever in a storage compartment. You would attach it to the rear of the engine. Then kick it sideways away from the engine.

Why would you ask this without checking your horse to see if it even offers you this option? The only bike I know of that had anything even close to this was the HONDA EXPRESS, I think it was. And it built compression by repeated down strokes on the kicker. If you should decide to test your theory, PLEASE, post afterward and tell us whether your leg or your bike caved first. Then you can tell us what your Doctor bill cost you. IF ALL ELSE FAILS READ THE DIRECTIONS!! And please don't tell people you're a BIKER. You'll put us in the IDIOT CLASS. In theory in order for that to work you would have to have to have a way to change the firing order & youre just talking about something that would be another part to R/R when it fails. That would be along the same line of thought as turning your ignition switch backwards in your car to start it!!!!

all modern bikes kick to the rear, however some classic machinery kicks forward, but they are all very old and only in museums now but theres no reason a manufacturer couldnt make one that way, dont know why he would want to tho.

Some are designed to kick forward, but very few.
