Brake discs are self-cleaning with use. A little bit of rust is normal. Don't spray any kind of coating on the brake disc, as it will cause your brakes to malfunction.

Use a good quality chrome polish on your muffler. It will take away rust and leave a thin coating that will protect it short-term.

Yeah, don't put anything chemicals on the brake disc. You can use steel wool: just pinch of a little piece and rub the muffler lightly. It will take off the surface rust and once that's gone, you can hit it with chrome cleaner.

You can use the steel wool on the disc too, but NO chemicals.

Silicone on the muffler? It'd probably burn a smoke pretty bad.
Once it's clean, try some high temp engine paint instead (comes in spray can).

Try those "magic erasers" from Mr Clean; you can buy them in the cleaning section of your supermarket. I wouldn't recommend them on chrome or super-shiny things, but I have been amazed at what they can clean without scratching!

RustBlast works great to get rid of rust. Use it in conjunction with a scotch brite pad and it will get rid of the rust.

Try a metal cleaner with a soft rag to keep from scratching.
