i got shocked, when i was trying to hook up the ground, and was hooking up the green wire that is attached to the ficture bracket of the ceiling fan , bracket, i thought that the (red) wire was the ground due to the fact that the (white) and (black) wires are supposed to be hooked up to the celing fan motor? i'm trying to figure out, witch one is the ground,?

I have 1999 Toyota Corolla. My wife rear-ended a pickup truck with it's gate down and crumpled the hood and front end of the car. At the very least, It will need a new hood, right fender, right headlight kit, bumper, front grill, and radiator. I don't believe there is any major engine damage except for the radiator. (Though, the mountings for the radiator are severely displaced.)

What is a guess-timate on what that will cost to have it fixed?

A replacement (used) car will cost as much as $6000. Should I go ahead and get a quote to fix the Corolla? (i.e. is there any chance the repairs will be less than the cost getting a replacement car?)

Also, what can I expect if I sell the Corolla for parts. It has brand new brakes (ironically... I had spent $500 on new brakes the same day she had the accident).

What would you do?

I have a 2002 4-wheel drive Ford Explorer. I keep hearing this clicking noise whenever I slow down and come to a stop. It sounds as if something is stuck in my tire, but we've looked and we don't see anything. I used to hear it only in the front passenger tire, but now I hear it in both front tires. I don't notice anything else. My truck still sounds and feels like it always has when driven, other than that clicking. At first I thought it could be my brakes because of only hearing it when coming to a stop, but the last few days, I hear it when just slowing down too, when I don't even hit the brakes. I don't see any wires hanging down either, so what in the world could it be? My husband says he's thinking it might have something to do with the 4 wheel drive, but how could that be unless I'm actually trying to use it (which I haven't been, of course). We did have to get the transmission rebuilt before, could it have something to do with that?

I recently purchased a 05 plate used VW golf 2.0 SDi .
There is a noticeable noise on start up which only occurs a few times, it sounds like a cross between a 'whooping and clanking' noise. It only does this about twice and it clears after about 30 sec.

The garage says it is the air-con pump and it is fine.
Has anyone heard of this, or should I get them to investigate it further?

I have a 2001 oldsmobile alero with about 130K miles on it. About a month ago I found out I blew the head gasket and was told it could be fixed but that it would be pricey and eventually I would have to also replace the bottome of the engine and then whateva else was found wrong with the car. I was told it would be cheaper to find another used car but what should i do with this one.

Should I attempt to sell it and if so what would be a good price for it. The car also has a small dent on the front end and needs a new tire. If i decided to junk it, would i get money for it, or would i be better off donating it to purple heart or some place like that?

So heres my problem... my car broke down on the side of the road, so I pulled it into a neighborhood and parked it on the side of the road, till I can get it fixed/towed. 4 hrs later police department calls me and says I have one day to move it or they're gonna tow it. I need to replace my catalytic converter, so I got ac/dc converter, a dremel tool to saw the old one off, and everything I needed, BUT everytime I turn the dremel on my converter displays a red light and shuts its power off. the ac/dc con. puts out 125v, and the dremel takes 120v, my car battery is completely charged and the conv. is supplying enough power so whats wrong?

Sometimes when I'm driving my car, it'll randomly cut off. ...Almost as if someone took the key out of the ignition. Once I stop the car and restart it, it'll drive fine for a while until it does the same thing again. Any ideas or possibilities as to why?

Hi, I have a 99 Honda Accord, 85k miles, some gas in the tank and it won't start. I drove it last night fine, parked it, I'm pretty sure I didn't leave anything on because today the locks, lights and CD player work but the car won't start. When I turn the key, it clicks once, not the repeated sound that you usually hear when the battery is dead, but one click and then nothing.
I've got a road trip tomorrow, AAA can't come tonight except to tow and I'm looking for something that I might have missed.
I've already tried jumping it and I knocked the battery corrosion off the red knob. Any suggestions would help, thanks.

I have a 2000 Silverado pickup. I live on a farm and it gets a lil dirty but not much, Its probably the cleanest farm truck you will ever see. I Wash it once a week. Wax it atleast every other week. I live in the midwest so there is snow in the winter and humidity in the summer. I use Meguiars wax and deep crystal car wash.

We unplugged the battery because my gauges weren't working at all, and the air bag light wouldn't go off. All the fuses are ok, but when we unplugged the battery so it could reset, the car will crank and run for 2 seconds and something shuts it off. I have anti-theft on it, so I think its either my anti-theft or its my CPU. I can't firgure it out, if it is my computer than how much does a new one cost? Is there a way they can fix it with out a new one? Or how do I get pass the anti-theft, if thats the cause?
