So heres my problem... my car broke down on the side of the road, so I pulled it into a neighborhood and parked it on the side of the road, till I can get it fixed/towed. 4 hrs later police department calls me and says I have one day to move it or they're gonna tow it. I need to replace my catalytic converter, so I got ac/dc converter, a dremel tool to saw the old one off, and everything I needed, BUT everytime I turn the dremel on my converter displays a red light and shuts its power off. the ac/dc con. puts out 125v, and the dremel takes 120v, my car battery is completely charged and the conv. is supplying enough power so whats wrong?

The amps. What is the Watts rating of the converter Vs the Dremel? If is AC, the Dremel is an induction motor therefore has a starting current. The Amps goes high and the Voltage goes low like a short circuit for a brief moment. Now it trips it. That could be too. I can say the Inverter does not produce enough Watts. Watts=Current(amps) X Volts On AC there is some called Power Factor. So you have to see Amps X Volts X PF that is 1 as perfect 0 as really sucks!

See what is the output, Volts, Amps, Watts and what the Dremel uses on Volts, Amps and Watts.

The inverter has to have a higher Watts output than the Dremel needs.

You gonna change a cat with a dremel tool ?? Those pipes are way too much you better get the hack saw. Your cat. can't ne so bad that it won't run enough to get it to a safe place.

Your inverter is not providing you with enough wattage to run the dremmel.....get a hacksaw and cut a wedge in the pipe...just enough to allow it to breathe/exhaust
