yes many are drivable but no you shouldn't drive for a prolonged period of time.
older imports will not start without a maf and some pre 96 domestics also.
running without a maf will set all sorts of codes but will also put the car into limp home mode where it will run but not well and with horrible fuel economy

Depends on the car. Most cars will not start with out the Mass Air sensor attached. Some information anbout what the problem is and why you what to remove the MAF would be helpful in answering your question.

Most new vehicle are designed not to as the computer adjusts the fuel to air ration according to the air flow temperatures. Most will not even start without one connected.

ive seen some cars do it... but most cars wont be able to run without the MAF... the ones that do usually have a MAP sensor too.

Yes, you should be able to drive it in "limp home mode" with the MAF sensor disconnected and the check engine light on.

it will run, but not right. the computer will defalt to guess how much air is coming in. you should get it fix.
