here is the scenario. For about the past year my car would stick in park without letting me change to any other gear for about 5 minutes every time I started it, unless its warm then it usually will only take about 30 seconds. And now it won't start or even make an attempt to start..any ideas on what could be the problem. All electronics work fine

I have a Suzuki Vitara and when i was driving to work the other day my indicators suddenly stopped working. Once at work i checked my fuse and sure enough it had blown. i replaced it and as soon as i turn the ignition on it blows straight away! even when i changed it to a 20amp fuse! ( i know i shouldn't of but thats all i had)
I have checked all the bulbs and the hazards work fine.
Does anyone know what to check next. I have no money to pay an auto electrician so will have to try fix myself somehow !
Haynes manual doesnt help me much either!

OK...This problem has always been there since I bought it 2 years ago but in the 2 weeks or so it's getting super bad! After the car warms up the engine starts to jump...it usually happens when Im slowing down, idling, or starting to move. The idle jumps and it constantly does it and on the down side of the jump sometimes it stalls. It doesnt do it when i get going. It gets so bad it constantly does it and I have to start the car again and again! What could it be???

When fitting new car tyres, which gives safer handling - putting the newer tyres to the rear or front?
I've always had my new tyres fitted to the front wheels of my front wheel drive car (if it was the rear tyres I was replacing, I'd put the front wheels to the rear and the new tyres on the front) as it seemed logical to place the newer tyres on the front where most wear takes place. However, I have heard lately from more than one source that putting the newer tyres to the rear each time gives better handling leading to better performance and (more importantly to me) more safety when braking and/or swerving sharply - even if the vehicle is front wheel drive - apparently this is something about reducing 'oversteer' which means little to me. Could anyone who has a good knowledge of this area please enlighten me? Which is safer?

I have a 96 BMW 7 series V8. The "plastic" engine cover with the bmw logo has a tendency to warp & crack from the constant heat of the engine bay. If I take a replica of this part to a body shop; can they reproduce an identical piece with the same exact dimensions out of METAL instead of plastic?

I just bought a second hand honda jazz... its only 4 years old and this morning when i tried to start it, there was nothing... no lights, no sound... dead. Its like the battery is dead but i just got a new one last week and no lights or anything were left on.
It has this keyless start thing that the previous owner put on and its always beeping and now it is like broken and wont even lock the car. These two things have co-oincided... Are they connected? Is the key draining the car battery or something?
Ah! What am i going to do? I have no roadside assistance because i'm only 16 and can't afford it. My P test is in 3 weeks!
Please help me ha

Remove pressure regulator on rail, unhook return line and plug the rail. Add an electric fuel pump and regulator to the fuel rail inlet line. Connect the fuel tank return to the inlet of electric pump.(Saves in-tank pump)

Big question is will the fuel pressure regulator maintain constant pressure when the engine is high revving?

brand new lawn mower wouldn't start. If oil was put in where gas goes...can it be corrected? Siphoned gas from tank...but the lines? Can it be undone if that is the problem? The oil(if put in) was 24 hours b4 gas was put in. I didn't see anything in the tank like oil before I put the gas...could this be the problem? If so would the oil have disappeared somehow going into the engine? The gas taken out looked like oil was in it. The engine never started and died. It is key start and turned over fine but never started. I used the primer pump before attempting to start, but nothing. And the cord(secondary way to start) is unuasually hard to pull as compared to last lawn mower. Wondering what it could be....and wondering if oil could have been put into gastank by mistake.

They're going for about the same sort of money these days. It will only be used for light work, the odd car body plate etc. Obviously one doesn't require spending out on gas bottles but is the finish as good with the flux cored wire?
Any ideas on ease of use of each?

When you "top it off," you end up with more gas fumes in the tank. You put that out into the environment. So, if you let it get kind of low

This is a multi-part question. Thanks in advance for help.

Every now and then the A/C on my 2001 Hyundai Elantra with 70k makes a whirring or high-pitched whining noise. I'm told that this may be because of low r134 refrigerant. And I may be imagining but I think it used to blow colder.

So, here are my questions:

1) How are A/C systems supposed to be maintained? Do you dump (legally, at a mechanic, of course) and refill the refrigerant every few years or do you just top it off when it's low?
2) Is this something I should do myself? Most mechanics offer A/C recharges but if it's as simple as picking up a can and doing it yourself, who would pay to have it done?
3) How is it done? I know I need r134. Looking at the AutoZone site I see they have a 12lb and 37lb container. Do I need one of those? Or can I use one of those 1 lb cans?
4) Can I check if I'm low before I make an investment in the stuff?

Thanks and PLEASE ANSWER ALL 4 PARTS OF MY QUESTION.

I was driving along and the glowplug light started flashing, in time, like the indicator. I stopped the car, turned off the engine and turned it back on and the problem had gone. Mondeo TDCi 2.0. The car is under warranty, but I wish to know what it could be so that I am not fobbed off before the warranty runs out.

When I was younger I seen on the TV a new way of jacking up your car when getting a puncture.

It was not mechanical.

What it was was a pipe somehow is connected to the exhaust pipe and this leads to a thick heavy duty bag/balloon which you put under the dooe sill of the car.

You rev the engine and this forces air/fumes into this bag and lifts the car in the same way as a car jack does this.

Then you change the wheel!

Are these methods used at all in the motoring world.

Or was it just pie in the sky?

Answers appreciated.

Thank you
