They're going for about the same sort of money these days. It will only be used for light work, the odd car body plate etc. Obviously one doesn't require spending out on gas bottles but is the finish as good with the flux cored wire?
Any ideas on ease of use of each?

Flux covered make a nasty looking weld but for plug welding and spotting it will work up to about 1/8 inch. My favorite is shielded with argon helium or other inert gas welding almost anyone can lay down a bead that looks great. Auto Dark welding hood is a must.

Can't beat a good MIG using BOC Agashield. 25% argon / 75% CO2 mix would be ok for most jobs.

Don't be a cheapskate and use CO2 only, there will be more weld in your hair than on the job.

Go for an arc welder instead,so much more flexibility.
