No fear you're fine! Replacement studs are available to replace the the damaged ones. A special press tool is used to remove the old studs and new ones are pulled back through the axle or wheel flanges.

I'd rather see you go to a new car dealer who sells your brand of car. I visited a Pep Boys on Long Island Saturday and wasn't thrilled with the way costumers were being talked to.

I wanted a simple spark plug for a lawnmower and they couldn't cross it over to any other brand but a lowsey off-shore Champion.

An OEM ( original equipment manufacturer) dealer is better equipped to do this type of work. From now on request that the dealer wipe on a little (Never Seize Compound) in your stud threads to prevent rust, galling and corrosion.

Do you have aluminum wheels on your car?

If you do you should always have the lug nuts re-checked for tightness within 100 miles after having the wheels removed. Lug nuts do have a tendency to come loose on vehicles equipped with aluminum wheels. It doesn't happen a lot but it does happen. I see it several times a year and it has happened to me personally twice in my 20 year driving career.

Whoever last had your wheels off should have told you this. I would recommend seeking reimbursement from the shop that installed the tires, which they should be willing to do since they face a serious liability problem for not informing you of this issue. At my shop we have the customers sign a document acknowledging they have been informed that they need to return and have the lug nuts re-checked. We take it that seriously.

Stripped lug nuts can be removed with an air chisel.
The studs can be replaced very easily.

It's only labor that will be costly. If you go somewhere and specifically tell them that you need 3 lug nuts removed and the studs replaced, that should help keep the cost lower, because you are telling them exactly what you want., and you are also sounding like you know what your doing.

As long as you sound confident and knowlegeable, you gennerally will NOT get ripped off.

If you are in the NW burbs of IL. I can replace them for you for free.

Lug nuts could desire to on no account come unfastened in the event that they are properly torqued. each time i exchange a tire I consistently use a torque wrench to tighten the lugs. If yet another shop removes a wheel I additionally loosen the lug nuts and tighten with a torque wrench. additionally, I torque the lug nuts applying a criss go trend.

The only way to strip lug nuts is when they go on , not come off .
Please replace these ASAP for your safety . The repair depending on the type car you have and the number of wheels affected should be less than 75.00 to fix . Hope this helps Howard

Well, since they told you something that didn't profit them, I would trust it. Pep boys is a good place to go. Just don't go to Firestone! I've been ripped off by them and my son was, too.
