I've got a 52 plate Renault Clio 1.5 Diesel which I've had since new, but the other day when I was driving on the motorway in 5th gear it started juddering and i thought I had a flat tyre so i pulled over and they were fine so i tried to go again and the car was struggling to get up to speed, it sounded like the rev counter was in the red but i was only going about 30 in 3rd, i could get into any gear but i just didn't have the speed so i pulled off and got it towed to a garage who have had a brief look at it and said it could be the gear box that has gone or the drive shaft, and if it's the gear box thats gone it could be £1000 minimum ... is this normal for a gear box to go on a car of that age thats done about 69,000 miles?!!! Should I complain to Renault Customer service? HELP!

i have a 1990 efi range rover running on duel fuel. it keeps blowing the pipe that joins the air flow metre to the plenum chamber. put a brand new pipe on 2 days ago, and it has just blown it to bits.
any ideas as to what the problem is.

i have a 1996 renault clio and its just passed it's mot with flying colours. it starts first time and is a great little runner. i have noticed though when i am at a stand still or in nutueral say at traffic lights the engine sounds like it's gonna cut out. it doesnt constantly run like it should it dies down untill it's about to stall then picks up and again and does this untill i drive off again. no funny comments about having a crap car please. anyone in the know how that can help tell me what the problem is and what needs done so i dont get ripped off at the garage. thanks for your time.

Shatter this myth. Its written every where that if you turn your heater , heated seats and radio , wipers , headlights , etc it increases the petrol consumption.
In fact Clarkson in an econony test turned everything off - fool i think !

Air con and assisted steering are mechanically attached to the engine so i can understand them having a bearing on consumption if they are used , but not the above items.

Surely this myth is rubbish ?

The generator still spins at the same speed and has the same resistance what evers on

our cat 1.4 Mw keep busting its diodes even at 750 kw only of reactive loads. It is in parallel with another set of Cat 1.5 Mw. with the same loads. It has the same engine 3512 and alternator. almost all parts identical even the AVRs and load sharing modules. this is my concern in our power plant and it affected greatly our production (mining company) beside that costly replacements of diodes. Any help will be apreciated. So sad that even CAT Phils can't find the solution to our problem. in fact this is a new engine but since it arrive it gives us a lot of problem. We thought of not anymore purchasing CAT for our new genset requirements for our new Sulphide Plants. Can any CAT people in USA or somebody with the same problem help us.

I will be driving down the road and just quit on me but it will start right up in nuter. So I went to the ford dealership and they told me they would have to rebuild the engine to fix it.I do not remember what they called the fuel thing but it will cost me $800 to have them to do something so simple.if i knew how i would get a freind to repalce it for me. But i have all ready put over $7,000.00 in my truck new trans.,brakes,shocks,fuel fillter,fuel pump,I can't remember the rest basicly I need HELP! one more thing it is a ford f-250 7.3 powerstroke 1996

My car is sitting parked in my driveway for the last 6 months and it probably has a small leak somewhere because it is now covered in mould, seats, stereo, mats, light grey colored. I wiped it down and want to start driving it again. I know if it is used the mould won't grow ( I HOPE!) is there something I can use like a special cleaning agent to remove and kill it?

the passenger brake light is not coming on when I have my lights turned on. With out my light on it comes on every time I press my brake. But when I hit my brake with my lights on the passenger tail light actually goes out instead of the break light coming on. I have replaced the bulb but it is still occurring. Is this a fuse? anybody no which?

I changed the Temp sender on my 1993 Pontiac sunbird .Now when I ask someone to take the pigtail of the ripped the wires out and now i have no clue which wire goes to what.The new pigtail has only white wires not color coded.
There are three wires ,Black ,green and yellow but the new part only has white .Also the check engine light stays on now too.I am sure its a computer problem or something like that.

I have a brand 2007 new car. It has 3500 miles on it so I brought it for an oil change at the service center of the dealership I bought the car from. They serviced my car and I was ready to go.

I got on the highway and noticed the oil pressure light was on. I called the dealer/service and they said the light just needs to be reset. After a few minutes of messing around with it, they said it might be the oil pressure. They told me to bring the car back in. No precautions, just simply drive it in.

When I got there, they took my car and drained the oil. There was less the a quart in the engine. They forgot to add the oil during the oil change! I was suprised my car was able to get on the highway and some stop and go traffic with less then a quart of oil left, but then I turned furious that they forgot to add oil.
My questions are: Has anyone ever been through this and how did the everything turn out? Do you guys think the damage is done and the engine is garbage?

I have noticed a slight rattle underneath my car which I believe is the heat shield on the cat coverter. It only happens during cold starts and rattles for maybe 2 minutes if that. My question is can I tighten this part down or do I just need to go ahead and replace it if i want the problem solved? Thanks for all advise
