What do the ratings on motor oil mean ?

I don't mean the 10/W30 . That's viscosity. I'm talking about the little circle usually on the back of the bottle.

10 winters ad 30 summers baisclly the lower the grade before the w sign is very good oil. if u got an old car 60k miles onwards just put 15w 40
