So my battery's incredibly low (or dead). I checked the prices on batteries (roughly $70). How much does it usually cost to replace it (if I provided the battery itself)?

I ask, because I don't want mechanics to give me an off-the-wall price. I need to know the ballpark. By the way, my car is a 2000 Toyota Camry.

Thank you in advance to all answers.

It hesitates when shifting into the final gear until the cool temperature light goes off. Is this something to be concerned about? The car's user manual says that you shouldn't let it "warm up" before driving it.

I know my car is low on Transmission Fluid because I have a small leak in the pan but I was wondering how long my car will go without it before it screws everything up?

Please dont tell me to get it as soon as possible, I already know that and I am going to get some today. I just forgot all about it until today.

Also, when I turn me car on now all the meters (gas, spedometer ect.) go all the way up and then all the way down and then to where it should be at. What does that mean? Or could it be just because of the cold?

ok the altneator and battery are 6 months old, they worked perfectly up till a week ago,
now as i drive the dash lights come on, the headlights are dim but are there just and after half an hour the indicators dont work.
its had a new ignition system 4 weeks ago which means it now works on a toggle switch and a push button starter and the diesel pump is wired up differently as it stopped working a wee while ago?

any good ideas? only sensible answers please

I live in LA area. Is it even wroth worrying about because it does not rain as much as it does in Seattle. Is it worth thinking about a ram air intake although i am told they dont do much. I will get a cold air intake but should i be worried about sucking up water in the LA area. Also how can i protect it from the rain when it rains or can i not and i have to hope for the best.

Thanks

The car has 160,000 miles on it. The engine is a Series II 3.8 liter V-6. The charging system was checked and found to have no defects.

My car calls for 5W20 oil, it says so in the manual and on the oil cap. Jiffy Lube used 10W30 instead, without asking me if that's ok.

Do you think that's a big deal, or not really? I think it's a lack of attention to detail.
