So my battery's incredibly low (or dead). I checked the prices on batteries (roughly $70). How much does it usually cost to replace it (if I provided the battery itself)?

I ask, because I don't want mechanics to give me an off-the-wall price. I need to know the ballpark. By the way, my car is a 2000 Toyota Camry.

Thank you in advance to all answers.

Take it to Walmart. Buy battery and they install for free (or at the most $5). They keep your old battery and won't charge you a "core" charge. Batteries are $30 - $80 dollars there. Or do it yourself for free. It is really simple. Get an adjustable wrench (roller thing in the center to make it bigger or littler. Take off battery cover if you have one, Next remove negative (black) battery cable by turning the bolt on one side. Now remove Red battery cable (positive) take old battery out, put new one in and you are done. You won't get shocked if you only let the wrench touch the bolt on the battery. Don't touch any other metal part with the wrench while turning. Warning- this will reset your clock and radio stations. Will not void a warrant unless your battery still has a warrant on it- carry to parts place for replacement if it does and get a free one.

Are you sure the battery is the problem? If the alternator has failed, it wouldn't charge the battery and it would eventually go dead. Also if you have something draining the battery, such as a trunk light or glove box light that is sticking on, the battery would drain over night.

Fist find out if you really need one. If you do, it would be the cost of the part, plus perhaps a quarter hour of labor at the labor rate.

Hey if you bought the battery from Me I install them for free. it is about a 10 minute job. 70- 80 bucks is average.

They will also run a chargeing system test to make sure the battery and not the charging system is the fault. I do

Go to SEARS to get your battery. The price will be right and you can't go wrong. Also SEARS "die hard" battery is the best battery money can buy.
