I keep putting off fixing it because I fear it will be expensive. The oil doesn't leak to the ground at all. It takes me 4 months to get down to the minimum level of oil. I think it leaks elsewhere into the engine and just gets "eaten."

My 2003 Jeep Liberty (about 70,000 miles) just broke on me. The tie rod looks like it broke and is leaning on the ground on the drivers' side. I noticed on a website that there is a recall for the "SUSPENSION:FRONT:CONTROL ARM:LOWER BALL JOINT."
I know nothing about cars though, so this means very little to me. Does this have anything to do with why my car is broken and is this covered under some kind of warranty for suspension (7 yr 70,000 powertrain)? If not, how expensive would this be to have fixed? Would I be better off just getting a new/used car?

I've done this for a few months without a problem, but someone told me this could crack the windscreen. What do people think?

I'm losing brake fluid,
I have a Lincoln town car. Is it really expensive to fix if it's a leaky caliper or a leaky wheel cylinder? I need to know how much I should expect to spend.

im planning on changing my engine oil this weekend, so i went to go buy motor oil and a filter at the local auto parts store.
anyways, i look in the handbook provided w/ the car that it recommends SAE 5w-30 for my 05 Dogde Magnum SE 2.7 V6 dohc w/ 36,000+miles, but also says to check what the oil cap states. the oil cap says SAE 5w-20.
from what i briefly researched is that sae 5w-20 is more for like cold weather and sae 5w-30 for warmer climates. i live in southern california, currently the weather is mediocre for a winter..its average in the morning is 55 degrees and in the day is around 65-70 degrees.
well my question is, can i use the sae 5w-30 part synthetic in my car because the books says it recommends it even though the oil cap says sae 5w-20? thanks.

Fuel Injection Cleaning
( again you dont have to goto the dealer any repair shop should be able to do this ) ( also, you can use the bottle injection cleaners from your local auto part store, read the instructions on back )

In a fuel injection system , the fuel is sprayed through the fuel injection nozzle into the combustion chamber. For good combustion, the injectors must produce a fine cone-shaped mist of fuel vapor. Wear or deposits in the nozzle can create "streamers" of liquid fuel that vaporize and burn poorly. This, in turn, can cause hesitation, emissions and performance problems.

Fuel injection cleaning removes deposits from the fuel injection nozzle and clears the way for that fine mist of fuel to come through.

Fuel injection cleaning will help increase performance, eliminate hesitation, improve gas mileage and lower exhaust emissions.

The car has 32K miles on it. During servicing the dealer advised that the tires need to be replaced as they are all worned out & offered to replace them under a 'special offer' with 60K mile Yokohama tires for total $419+tax.

I've never purchased tires before, still it sounds pricey to me. Also I want to research my options before purchasing. So for now I refused this offer. I've now the following questions for you tire specialists out there:

a. Is it normal for Camry tires to wear out in 32K miles under normal driving.

b. Is there a good site I can find out tips, tricks, pitfalls, etc. involved in purchasing new tires. Basically all that I need to know about purchasing new tires, especially as a first time (ie. novice) buyer.

c. What are some good places to buy tires (I'd prefer physical stores). What should I look for in the store.

d. What are the good brands, and what brands must be avoided.

Any other things I should know before purchasing new tires?

I have a 99 accord. i went to get my oil changed today and they told me that i have a "major oil leak, tranny leaking, and poss main seal leak." what does the last part mean and what kind of money are we talkin for repairs? how long do i have to do the repairs before i cause serious damage to the car? is it possible to have a "major oil leak" and not see any oil leaking? there is no visible oil on the driveway, in the wheel well, under the hood... anywhere that i could see.

It is running fine and I always keep up with the routine mantainence. Is there anything specific that I should have checked or looked over before I make my treck from california to florida?

I have noticed alot of question are around basic maintenance so here are som basics ( you dont have to goto the dealership is # 1)

Belts -- these should be changed every 30k miles but inspected every 2nd oil change

hoses -- should be looked at 2 times a year spring and fall replaced at 50k miles

tire rotation -- every 2nd oil change

coolant flush -- every 2 years or 24k miles.. make sure to use the standard ethylene glycol- type ( always the same color )

wheel alignment -- once a year is good

air filter -- once a year is good

cabibn air filter -- once a year is good

differential oil --- 24 to 30k miles or about every 2 years

transmission flush -- 2 years or 30k miles.. unless it is slipping.. then dont touch it see a transmission shop that offers free inspections

power steering fluid -- 30k miles should be good

tire pressure -- on your tire it will tell you what to put in them.. it should be that level not below.. l

I have a fuel injected Honda del sol and lately it has been stalling on me when I break. The idle will drop to stall. It doesn't do it all the time. Usually when I fill the tank up, it doesn't stall as much. I have been using a lower grade gas recently to save money. The manual says it requires Premium Unleaded. I switched back to Premium but I think the old fuel is still mixed in there. Could using lower grade fuel cause my stalling problem?

I am here in Wisconsin, and after this cold snap, my husband has a 95 Geo Metro, and he went out to start it, and it turned over once and then stopped. Then he turned the key and it made no noise at all...could it be the starter or the solenoid or something else. We already tried to jump it and also replaced the battery when we found out it was not holding a charge.

My neighbor who has an older model mustang installed a steel clutch in it and has blown 4 transmissions as a result.

Can any mechanic explain why a steel clutch would kill transmissions? What other modifications would the car need in order to prevent this?
