how can I fix my 2003 toyota corolla that can't shift gears when started?

I just replaced my dead battery in the car and now it finally starts but I think a fuse is blown, which is why I can't shift the gears.

if its a stick you cluucth is blown automatic a transmission control moduel

or it can be a nuetral saftey switch

If what you mean is "I'm stuck in park"...

Check your brake lights. You have to apply the brakes to shift out of park, and it releases because of the voltage that lights the brake lights. Most often it's the fuse. change that. If not it could be the switch.
