I have a 1994 Ford Tempo. It has been kept in excellent condition. I'm kind of an idiot when it comes to cars, but I looked under teh hood and saw that it was smoking a bit and had a smell to it. I think its a combination of two things, I'm out of coolant and low on oil. When I put the oil in where do I put it and what is coolant? isn't that just water or is that something I have to buy from the store? my mecahnic is out of town, I usually let him deal with everything.

I have the 95 mazda millenia that I posted the previous question about it running like an old truck. Over the past couple of weeks I have spent hundreds of dollars trying to fix my car which I take very good care of by the way and it turns out I got some bad gas from a station where I have filled up every week for the past two years which in turn clogged or damaged the number 2 fuel injector which is effecting the cylinder causing the car to misfire. How much will that cost me to repair? And another thought, is it possible to get the gas station where I purchased the gas to assist with these repair costs? Or am I just asking too much?

I have a 2001 Pontiac Grand Am, and it has been working terribly lately. While pulling out to pass on the highway last week, it stalled out completely and died. It starts up almost every time afterwards, but has been stalling more frequently. It stalled 6 times on the way home from the grocery store the other night. It had been sputtering and losing power previously to this, but these recent stallings are a new occurrance.

Any ideas? Thanks!

I asked one question yesterday and then it seemed to have been the problem, so here is what I wrote yesterday: " 99 Ford Taurus, 115,000 miles on it and I have a check engine light on. (I asked a few weeks ago about a tie rod on it...lol) But now my defroster/AC/heater doesn't really work. I am going through antifreeze like nuts and it leaks to the ground. There is also a smell (I think it's the antifreeze) in the car, so I make sure to keep a window open at least a crack..."

My updates and added information - yes there is dampness underneath the passenger side floormat (therefore the conclusion of the leaking heater core...) BUT now I have a new problem, which I figured it was still okay to drive so I took it to the store this morning, about 3-4 miles away. On my way back the car started getting white vapor/smoke coming from the vents. I thought it was just the antifreeze until I smelled something burning!! Therefore I concluded it was smoke! Now what is this about??

I have a blow fuse (15A) for the hazard light in my Explorer. When I put in a new fuse, it gets blown also. So there is more amperage running through than the fuse can sustain. What could this mean? Why isn't the amperage back down to 15 amps?

During a long drive, my car (88 Corvette) developed a worrisome symptom: I had to press the brake pedal a LOT further down before the brakes engaged. It felt like there was a good 5-6 inches of "play" before the brakes began to engage. I could still control the vehicle, I just had to keep the extra movement in mind.

This morning when I looked it over, the brakes were fine. Usual range of motion; no massive play.

Any insight on what could cause this strange, intermittent problem?

Thank you in advance.

My car is a 2001 Honda van (Odessy). Is it that the battery is going dead or is it the connection to my starter? If the key is removed promptly when car is turned off, it'll start fine, but if the key was left in (to listen to music, or just key in ignition without any function) Then I need a jump.
Are these signs of a battery needing change, or is there something more?

following happens when i start the aircondition:
every time the radiator-fans start to work, you can see it in front of my honda. the lights get dark for a little moment.
and it's equal, if the car stands still with running motor or i'm on tour, maybe on free- or highway. in that moment, the two fans start to work, the lights get dark; only a second but it happens the whole time i'm on tour, aprox every 2 minutes...
and it happens only when i'm using the aircondition.
please help me.

I've owned my 97 grand am for 3 years now. I've only put 25k miles on it. I've replaced both the front and rear rotors since i've owned the car. However I just had my car checked by one of the major chains and they said the pads were fine but i need to replace the rotors. How often are rotors replaced? Why couldn't they just resurface them? I dont drive often and I'm not heavy on the breaks. It just sounds kinda suspicious to have to replace rotors twice within 25k miles. What should I do to make sure they aren't taking me for a ride (so to speak)?
