I have a blow fuse (15A) for the hazard light in my Explorer. When I put in a new fuse, it gets blown also. So there is more amperage running through than the fuse can sustain. What could this mean? Why isn't the amperage back down to 15 amps?

The reason is that you have a direct short somewhere in the system. Check the easy stuff first. Remove the bulbs all around and make sure they aren't burnt and that the sockets are clean and free of corrosion and moisture. Then replace the fuse. If it blows again you need to start following the wiring harness from each bulb to the fuse block looking for any cuts or fraying or burn marks. They'll be easy to spot if they're there. Tape up the bare spot with black tape and you're all good. If THAT don't do it then you gotta move to the switch wich is a bigger pain in the **** to replace because of it's location but is rarely the issue. Sometimes another item like the cigarette lighter will run off of the same fuse. Check the fuse map in the owners guide to find out. If there is, then that item might be the culprit and you'll have to check it out too.

Is this Exploder equipped with a hitch? If the trailer lighting and plug is not installed and protected properly, some of the spliced wiring may be damaged and causing a short.
If this is the case, remove the wiring and replace it with a accessory wiring kit made for the year and model, available at the local parts store.

Merry Christmas
Good Luck

Your hazard flasher is combined w/ turn signals and hi-beams. It is called a multi-function switch and i think there was a recall on those in that year. Check w/ your nearest Ford dealer. I'm not sure if the blown fuse is a result but it could be.
