I asked one question yesterday and then it seemed to have been the problem, so here is what I wrote yesterday: " 99 Ford Taurus, 115,000 miles on it and I have a check engine light on. (I asked a few weeks ago about a tie rod on it...lol) But now my defroster/AC/heater doesn't really work. I am going through antifreeze like nuts and it leaks to the ground. There is also a smell (I think it's the antifreeze) in the car, so I make sure to keep a window open at least a crack..."

My updates and added information - yes there is dampness underneath the passenger side floormat (therefore the conclusion of the leaking heater core...) BUT now I have a new problem, which I figured it was still okay to drive so I took it to the store this morning, about 3-4 miles away. On my way back the car started getting white vapor/smoke coming from the vents. I thought it was just the antifreeze until I smelled something burning!! Therefore I concluded it was smoke! Now what is this about??

i own a repair shop, and it may be the heater motor on it drawing some of the dampness and this will cause it to do this ,you really need to get all of this repaired, because its going to eventually over heat on you and cause you some really bad problems with the car and it may ruin something if it gets hot enough,,good, luck, i hope this help,s.

If you still haven't repaired the heater core or by-passed it, you may still have anti-freeze in the heater core/ ac evaporator unit and this may be the source of the smoke, as the engine heats up so does the water in the heater unit, which will cause steam and /or a smoke smell.

Try turning off the ac/heater as it sounds like the coils are freezing up on you.

Your engine got so hot, that it began to burn the residual antifreeze in the water jacket.

Look at the bright side, pretty soon your car will blow up and be useless. Probably the next time you drive it.
