Tried Advanced Auto and PepBoys. No luck. The only places I can find are online and I need my car before next week. I have researched up on the best alternatives (probably Optima & Odyssey) and they are just too expensive.

Also would like to buy this locally for the piece of mind of being able to replace it immediately.

Estimates are coming in between $800.00 to $1000.00. How hard of a job is this to do on your own? Can the heater core be bypassed and if it can will it do any damage to the engine? I am really tight on cash and would rather try to fix this on my own considering what the mechanics are quoting. HELP!!

I am supposed to change the oil in my car every 3 months or 1000 miles. (as much as I hate) I could not follow that routine. Sometimes I change after 2000+ miles or after like 6-8 months according to my convenience. In know this is bad and will affect the gas mileage, etc. what are the others ? Once I change the oil do the ill effects caused due to my tardiness vanish OR is there any Long term damage to the car.. Advance thanks

I have been a mechanic professionally for over 35 years but always worked with my father since I was old enough to pronounce the word! I am a "mechanic" not a "parts replacer" like so many of these guys I see! Does "certified" change that somehow? I've seen "certified" mechanics that don't know if they're on foot or horseback! Must just be an "EGO" thing I would assume! A "mechanic" can diagnose the problem and install the correct part making the repair. A "parts replacer" just keeps putting parts in until he/she accidently corrects the problem but bankrupts the customers bank account! That's the difference and "mechanics in my opinion are a rare find these days!

got a high mileage truck that has had a history of the overdrive gear nut backing off. finally tack welded it to the shaft and it lasted a year.now it won't come out of overdrive-was shifting perfectly till then.- if I can grind the tacks off and get the nut backed off-what is the most likely cause of it not shifting out of overdrive? internal in the transmission or in the overdrive itself which is in the tailhousing section?

After a few goes, the smoke started to clear a bit, but it was pretty bad on the first couple of goes. What's your diagnosis?

This is on a diesel electricity generator (big). We tested it on load, but not full load (maybe 1/3).

The smoke is coming from the correct place of course (the exhaust)
